COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTIONS TO FIGHT DISEASE

According to WHO, around 1 in 5 adults suffer from periodontal disease, otherwise known as gum disease (source). This can cause many issues for your oral health, which is why Crawley Dental Clinic offers a team approach to help prevent and treat this damaging disease.

During your initial and subsequent routine examinations, our dentists will check your mouth for signs of periodontal disease. Our hygienists will then clean any calculus from your teeth and show you how to keep your mouth clean daily, keeping the signs of gum issues at bay. Should you require treatment, our in-house specialist periodontist can provide more advanced solutions, helping maintain your teeth and mouth for longer.

CHANGING THE WAY WE SEE GUM DISEASE

There was a time when people accepted periodontal disease as a normal part of life and getting older. That is where the saying “long in the tooth” comes from. However, with modern dentistry, we no longer have to accept this silent disease. Our team can help you to preserve the foundations of your teeth and keep your gums healthy.

KNOW THE SIGNS

The periodontium is the gum and bone around your teeth, the foundations of your teeth. If you lose the periodontium, the teeth will become loose and eventually fall out. Periodontal disease is the infection of the periodontium. Unfortunately, it is not painful until the teeth become loose, when it is often too late to save them. Most people with periodontal disease are initially unaware that they have a problem.

Signs to look out for are:

  • bleeding or tender gums

  • bad breath

  • a build-up of calculus or stains

  • teeth that look longer than they used to

  • spaces between your teeth

  • loose teeth
